The Post Office scandal was one of the worst scandals in UK corporate and legal history. It caused untold suffering to thousands of innocent people, and undermined trust in existing frameworks of governance and business leadership. This event gives delegates the opportunity to learn more about the Insitute of Directors' report on the scandal, and the most important lessons it has taught us about governance.

The IoD has recently published a report which seeks to assist directors in learning the appropriate lessons from the Post Office scandal, helping them to create more effective governance.

In addition, the report makes a series of policy recommendations for government, aimed at rebuilding trust in UK corporate governance.

The webinar will summarise the key findings of the report, and feature the expert advisory group that helped formulate its recommendations - including senior NEDA advisor, Barry Gamble.

The discussion will provide a fascinating insight into the functioning of a board in the midst of a scandal, and help you to avoid making similar mistakes in your own board roles.

Speakers include:

  • Barry Gamble, commentator on the challenge of board best practice and senior NEDA advisor.
  • Dr. Roger Barker, Director of Policy and Corporate Governance at the IoD.
  • Professor Richard Moorhead, Professor of Law and Professional Ethics at the University of Exeter.
  • Mary Campbell, Founder and Chief Executive of Blas and Resilient Corporates.
  • Seamus Gillen, Founder of Value Alpha Ltd and author of ‘Building Better Boards’.
  • Nick Gould, Partner at Aria Grace Law CIC.
