The role of the Non-Executive Director (‘NED’) has come under the spotlight in recent years. The expectations of key stakeholders, both internal and external, have increased significantly. NEDs are required to bring a broad range of experience and insight, as well as providing a positive and supportive challenge to the boardroom.
This session will better enable attendees to:
- gain insight into the importance of NEDs in the public sector
- hear experiences from industry leaders with decades of experience in NED roles
- learn more about the key responsibilities of NEDs and how to take the first step in pursuing a career as a NED.
In a time of increasing uncertainty and change, the leadership and experience provided by non-executive directors will be essential. Join our discussion about the importance of NEDs, their key roles and responsibilities and how the position will become even more crucial in a post-COVID world.
The session will be led by CIPFA CEO Rob Whiteman and he will be joined by Non-Executive Director for the Department for Education Irene Lucas and Non-Executive Directors' Association Chairman Graham Durgan. The panel will share their experiences as NEDs and provide their insights and perspectives, especially for those considering pursuing NED roles.
