Working in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (‘ICAEW’) NEDA delivered a two-day Senior Leader programme at the Shanghai National Accounting Institute (‘SNAI’).
Over 60 high profile finance professionals who are members of a SNAI ‘Top Talent Programme’ drawn from a range of large state-owned organisations including: China Mobile, China Construction Bank, China National Petroleum Corporation, China Air-to-Air Missile Research Institute, the State Power Investment Corporation, China Development Bank, China National Machinery Industry Corporation.
The Programme was delivered by Louis Cooper, CEO NEDA and covered elements of the three training programmes run by NEDA for the ICAEW Academy – content included:
- Corporate Governance – a review of current developments in the UK and Europe
- Risk Management – what companies are doing to embed a more strategic-based risk process
- Boards and NEDs – an abridged version of the ICAEW NED Certificate course, considering the current state of play in UK Boardrooms.
Comparisons were drawn between working practices in the UK and China, particularly in respect of strategy, values, culture, performance. The sessions were very well received with a number of participants now looking at the possibility of taking on a NED-related role, whilst still working in their executive position – mirroring the NED Development Programme NEDA runs with major corporates in the UK.
