Message from Professor Alex Edmans (LBS), Dr. Tom Gosling (LBS), and
Dr. Dirk Jenter (LSE)
We would be grateful if you were willing to participate in a 15-minute survey on the determinants and effects of CEO pay. We appreciate that you will have been inundated with surveys during COVID-19. This is distinctive as it is a joint academic research project between London Business School and the London School of Economics that we aim to publish in a top journal. Each completed survey results in a £100 donation to NHS Charities Together (up to a total of £25,000). We are extremely grateful to NEDA for making participation in this survey available to their members.
CEO pay is a key topic for companies, investors and society, and so it is important to understand the factors that influence it. However, many key determinants are unobservable and cannot be studied using standard data sources. Therefore, we have teamed up to design a short survey, using established academic survey techniques, to explore questions that cannot otherwise be studied. As well as informing the discussion on CEO pay, the study will help ensure that future academic research on this topic is relevant for practitioners.
We are particularly interested at this point in the study in responses from non-executive directors on boards of FTSE Small Cap, Fledgling, AIM and growth companies. A high response rate is important to improve survey accuracy, and we would greatly appreciate your participation by following this link.
Please forward the link to other directors in your company or network who you think may be interested (we are allowing for multiple responses from the same firm). The survey can be completed on a mobile phone, but the user experience is better on a tablet, laptop, or desktop. Please complete the survey by 24th December 2020. All responses are confidential. Respondents have the option to receive the preliminary results in advance of publication.
The researchers are Professor Alex Edmans (aedmans@london.edu), Dr. Tom Gosling (tgosling@london.edu), and Dr. Dirk Jenter (d.jenter@lse.ac.uk). If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to contact any one of us directly.
With many thanks in advance.
