NEDA has partnered with Emile Woolf Middle East as its exclusive delivery partner for governance programmes across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) — preparing directors for governance roles through structured development and immersive board simulations.
Through this partnership, we are running two flagship programmes — the Boardroom Challenge and the NED Certificate Programme — fully localised for the GCC, anchored in the regulatory frameworks and board realities of the region.
The Boardroom Challenge:
A two-day immersive simulation in which participants take on director roles at a fictional GCC-listed conglomerate as a governance crisis unfolds.
Participants receive the same information a real board would receive; with no script and no right answer, the programme is built around practice — not just theory. They'll have to read the signals, challenge the executive team, and make the decisions that a functioning board would make.
Attendees will learn to:
- Identify the early financial and governance signals that boards routinely miss.
- Raise concerns and challenge decisions under genuine pressure.
- Lead through a live crisis involving regulators, media, and board succession.
Cohort size: Up to 20 delegates
The Programme Schedule:
Day 1: The Simulation Begins
The simulation opens with a board pack and a confidential briefing. Each participant receives a director role with its own priorities, constraints, and information asymmetries. The first governance signals arrive. Some are obvious. Most are not. By the afternoon, the board must decide what to investigate, what to escalate, and what to let pass.
Day 2: The Crisis Escalates
Regulatory pressure mounts. Media coverage intensifies. The board faces a succession question, a disclosure decision, and a room where not everyone agrees. The final session is a structured debrief: what was missed, what was handled well, and what each participant will carry back to their own boardroom.
Extended Day 3 (Optional): Sub-Committee Dynamics
Sub-committee simulations. Participants work through audit, risk, or remuneration committee dynamics in smaller groups before returning to the full board for a final plenary session.
